The differences between Hungary and France

(This is the Budapest parliament)

We've been living in Budapest for five months and those are the things that came to my mind instantly when I was asked "So, how was Hungary compare to France ?"

First of all, the life, since they've got the same time zone as in France, it has been hard to adapt ourselves at the start of the Erasmus. The days were short with a full night at 5pm everyday, moreover the sun was up at 5am. It ended up, that we were having a bigger nightlife. And it feels a little bit awkward to have shorter days like that at first. Again concerning the life, an important difference were the price of life. everything was cheaper than in France, food, alcohol, cigarets, literraly everything. So it became very hard ton ensure ourselves from the temptation because the argument was "Okay it's not that expensive I can allow myself to buy it." But at the end we were slightly throwing our money because we weren't aware of it. And concerning our lives, they was also the weather, because it's been really cold in February until april, and then it became with almost no transition to be super hot, the heat was awful. That's it for the life.

Then comes the people.

The majority of the people we encounter from Hungary (because we met a lot of Erasmus students just like us) were not really kind with us, because we were foreigner and we weren't speaking Hungarian, it been harsh at the start of our journey, because we had to deal with some minor things, with people whom weren't understanding us, because only the youngest part of the population speak english or tend to learn it. We never had any trouble with the hungarian people we met but you see that they aren't very welcoming, in contrary of France were people are eager to help you and they are smiling and at least pretending they are happy to see you.

And finally comes the city.

Budapest is a gargantuan city, with insanely huge streets, which are all parallel or perpendicular, the streets are clean, even with the scale of the city, you can find your way easily, the transport are numerous and they goes around quite often.

That's quite all for the big differences I found between our two countries.

It was a really great experience, I enjoyed this Erasmus but I'm happy to finaly see my home again, it's the end for us, thanks to all the people who followed us. It's time for us to say goodbye.

So Sziasztock !

(And this is the most famous place of my city Angers)
